International Women’s Day Textiles Exhibition Celebrates Stitch, Story and Solidarity in Lostwithiel
Elaine Foster-Gandey Art, Lostwithiel, is proud to present a special International Women’s Day textiles exhibition, bringing together six acclaimed women artists alongside historic banners from WI Cornwall, celebrating the power of stitch as expression, protest and care.
The exhibition opens with a Private View on Friday 6th March, 5–8pm, featuring readings from local women poets and short talks by the exhibiting artists. All are welcome.

Together, they present an exciting range of contemporary stitched and textile works that explore identity, activism, memory and the deeply human act of making. Alongside these works, the exhibition will include historic banners from WI Cornwall, creating a dialogue between past and present women-led movements and the enduring role of textiles in collective voice and social change.
Special International Women’s Day Event – Sunday 8th March
To mark International Women’s Day, the gallery will host a day of pampering and reflection on Sunday 8th March, 12–5pm, offering a gentle, restorative space centred on wellbeing, listening and shared experience. The afternoon will include:
Meditation and relaxation
Shared food (visitors are invited to bring something to share)
A screening of Deep Listening by Pauline Oliveros
