Cornish Chough with Gold Halo
Cornish Chough with Gold Halo
A contemporary textile portrait of a Cornish chough surrounded by a luminous gold halo. Through layered embroidery and richly textured reclaimed fabrics, the work combines folklore, symbolism and contemporary textile practice.
The halo transforms the familiar Cornish chough into an almost sacred figure, drawing connections between folklore, spirituality and the natural world. Elaine's layered textile process uncovers hidden colours beneath the surface, reflecting her ongoing interest in revealing stories that exist between history, mythology and imagination.
Medium: Cut-through embroidery and free-motion machine stitch on reclaimed textiles. Eyelets are sewn into the back of the piece for hanging.
Approximate Size: 30 x 45 cm
