Hand
Hand
A contemporary textile artwork exploring gesture, movement and identity through the form of a single hand. Combining cut-through embroidery with expressive free-motion machine stitching, the work reveals layered fabrics beneath the surface, creating depth and texture.
Hands are often seen as symbols of making, communication and human connection. Through the process of cutting and stitching, Elaine explores the traces of touch and the relationship between surface and what lies beneath. The combination of reclaimed textiles and layered embroidery reflects her continuing interest in uncovering hidden narratives through cloth.
